Position: Process Development Engineer * Location: North West * Salary: Contract (Inside IR35) * Job Type: Full-Time, Shift Rotation We are seeking a driven and skilled Process Development Engineer to join our dynamic operations team at a top-tier chemical manufacturing facility. In this role, you will bridge the gap between laboratory research and full-scale plant production. You will lead process scale-ups, optimise existing chemical unit operations, and drive continuous improvement projects focusing on safety, yield, energy efficiency, and sustainability. Key Responsibilities * Process Scale-Up: Design, test, and transition new chemical processes from bench-scale and pilot plant to full manufacturing scale. * Optimization & Troubleshooting: Analyze plant performance data, identify root causes of process variation, and resolve technical bottlenecks. * Safety & Compliance: Ensure all new and existing processes strictly comply with UK health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g., COMAH, DSEAR, ISO standards). * Project Management: Deliver engineering projects on time and within budget, managing cross-functional teams from concept to commissioning. Key Requirements * Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline. * Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or highly regulated manufacturing environment.
