About the role

We are looking for a dynamic and committed Senior Communities Worker to join our friendly and forward-thinking Communities Team. In this role, you will lead the delivery of innovative, resident-focused community development across PCH areas, ensuring our neighbourhoods are vibrant, inclusive and thriving. You will manage and support a team of Communities Workers, providing guidance, motivation and leadership that enables them to deliver high-quality projects and initiatives. Alongside this, you will take charge of your own portfolio of community development work, designing, delivering and evaluating projects that boost participation, build resilience and give residents a real voice in shaping their local area. Collaboration is key. You will build strong relationships with colleagues, partners, voluntary groups and local organisations to maximise the reach and impact of our work. You will also support funding bids to secure external resources that further benefit our communities. This is a hands-on role perfect for someone who loves people, community connection, and positive change.

Our ideal candidate for this role is someone who:

  • Has proven experience in community development and a genuine passion for empowering residents.
  • Brings confident, supportive line-management skills, helping their team perform at their best.
  • Is an effective project manager, able to plan, deliver, monitor and evaluate community initiatives.
  • Builds excellent relationships with residents, colleagues, partners and external agencies.
  • Is skilled in engagement and consultation, ensuring a wide range of voices are included and heard.
  • Communicates clearly, both in writing and in person, adapting confidently to different audiences.
  • Tackles challenges with positivity and initiative, always looking for solutions and improvements.
  • Holds a full driving licence and is comfortable travelling across Plymouth.

Why join us?

You will be part of a team that genuinely cares about communities, about residents, and about each other. This is your chance to lead meaningful change, shape community life, and help create places where people feel connected, supported and heard. If you are ready to make a lasting difference in local communities, we would love to welcome you to the team.
