The Diocese of Plymouth is looking for a Secretary who will be based at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Torquay (TQ2 5NJ). The Secretary will manage the administration of the church office to ensure the smooth running of the parish and to enable the Parish Priest to carry out his ministry and parish responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities:
- Dealing with routine enquiries and requests, either in person, on the telephone or by electronic means, in a sympathetic manner, recognising the need for confidentiality.
- Producing booklets, service sheets and word-processing Prayers of the Faithful and Mass Intentions.
- Co-ordinating, printing and distributing rotas for the various ministries in the church.
- Arranging routine repairs, maintenance and replacement in the churches and church buildings, monitoring service and repair contracts.
- Keeping church notice-boards up-to-date.
- Providing information to parish committees.
We are looking for someone:
- Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- With previous secretarial and administrative experience.
- With an ability to work with people in a sympathetic and sensitive manner.
- With excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- With excellent communication and teamwork.
- Confident with Canva, or a willingness to learn how to use it.
- Confident with Microsoft Teams, or a willingness to learn how to use it.
- With a knowledge of GDPR.
- With an empathy for the traditions of the Catholic Church.
