Join us at an exciting time in our Neighbourhood Rangers team as an Assistant Team Leader. We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Neighbourhood Ranger Team Leader to lead and support a team delivering high-quality environmental services across our communities.

About the role

In this role, you’ll ensure our neighbourhoods are clean, safe, and well-maintained, working alongside the team while driving service excellence and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards and legislation. You’ll work both on-site and across multiple locations, leading by example and always ensuring operational efficiency. You’ll play a key role in improving communities and delivering essential services that make a real difference to residents’ daily lives.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of Neighbourhood Rangers
  • Conduct check-ins and probation reviews
  • Manage on-site absence, annual leave, and performance issues
  • Deliver in-house training and toolbox talks
  • Identify development needs and support team growth
  • Oversee daily operations across cleaning, caretaking, grounds maintenance, and waste services
  • Ensure high standards are maintained across all sites and services
  • Carry out risk assessments and safety inspections
  • Maintain equipment and ensure all compliance checks are completed (e.g. PAT testing, fire safety)
  • Report incidents and hazards via the appropriate systems (e.g. OSHENS)
  • Manage challenging environments including hazardous waste and biohazards safely

Our ideal candidate for this role is someone who:

  • Proven experience leading or supervising a team in a similar environment
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and best practices
  • Ability to manage multiple sites and priorities effectively
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience within environmental services, facilities, estates, or similar
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
