Join us at an exciting time in our Neighbourhood Rangers team as an Assistant Team Leader. We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Neighbourhood Ranger Team Leader to lead and support a team delivering high-quality environmental services across our communities.
About the role
In this role, you’ll ensure our neighbourhoods are clean, safe, and well-maintained, working alongside the team while driving service excellence and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards and legislation. You’ll work both on-site and across multiple locations, leading by example and always ensuring operational efficiency. You’ll play a key role in improving communities and delivering essential services that make a real difference to residents’ daily lives.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of Neighbourhood Rangers
- Conduct check-ins and probation reviews
- Manage on-site absence, annual leave, and performance issues
- Deliver in-house training and toolbox talks
- Identify development needs and support team growth
- Oversee daily operations across cleaning, caretaking, grounds maintenance, and waste services
- Ensure high standards are maintained across all sites and services
- Carry out risk assessments and safety inspections
- Maintain equipment and ensure all compliance checks are completed (e.g. PAT testing, fire safety)
- Report incidents and hazards via the appropriate systems (e.g. OSHENS)
- Manage challenging environments including hazardous waste and biohazards safely
Our ideal candidate for this role is someone who:
- Proven experience leading or supervising a team in a similar environment
- Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to manage multiple sites and priorities effectively
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience within environmental services, facilities, estates, or similar
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
