Workshop Shift Manager (Grade G)
Salary: £37,280 Spinal Point 26. Temporary role lasting 6 months as part of Street Services.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure operational services and activities comply with legislation and law, promote equal opportunity, and encourage positive relations in the delivery of vehicle/plant services.
- Effectively manage a team of approximately 14 FTE in the delivery of vehicle and plant maintenance, repair, MOT tests, tacho‑calibration and safety inspections.
- Ensure all repairs are carried out in a timely manner, to a high standard, and reimbursed by the supplier under warranty.
- Arrange for efficient and prompt repairs to damaged vehicles, plant and equipment.
- Support management of the Council’s MOT station, implementing processes, controls, protocols and procedures to ensure the safe operation of the station in accordance with VOSA requirements.
- Deliver a commercial service through the provision of MOT testing, servicing and repairs to external clients and the public; develop and deliver business plans, communications and marketing.
- Liaise with internal and external clients and customers regarding the scheduling and delivery of maintenance, repairs, tests and inspections within agreed SLAs.
- Maintain a safe working environment by developing and implementing safe working practices, processes and procedures, and keeping health and safety management up to date.
- Deal with customer complaints, ensuring resolution within set corporate timescales.
- Monitor monthly charging, utilise IT systems and implement measures to monitor productivity and performance of the workshop.
- Ensure all documentation, records and inspections are carried out correctly, completely and to a high standard.
- Ensure effective management of stock through control systems, processes and procedures to meet service needs.
- Carry out other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.
