Plymouth City Council is seeking to appoint a Specialist in Public Health to join its Public Health Directorate.
Salary: Grade J (£52,413 - £57,831 per annum)
Hours: 37 hours per week (9-5, Monday to Friday)
Location: Crownhill Court, office base
Eligibility: This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
Overview: Plymouth offers a public health challenge in a coastal city with significant deprivation. The Specialist will support health and wellbeing for a population of approximately 265,000. Working across a system-wide approach, the Specialist will influence core determinants of health through integrated commissioning and partnership with the Plymouth Alliance for Complex Lives and other partners.
Responsibilities:
- Lead public health strategy for drug and alcohol treatment, recovery and prevention system.
- Commission drug and alcohol services and manage related budgets.
- Collaborate with The Plymouth Alliance for Complex Lives, Plymouth Drugs Strategic Partnership, and other partners supporting people with multiple disadvantages.
- Manage the Plymouth Local Drug Information System to coordinate response to potential drug incidents.
- Develop, implement and evaluate public health programmes, initiatives and strategic development.
Qualifications:
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in public health or equivalent work-based experience.
- Experience leading, developing, commissioning, implementing and evaluating public health strategies, programmes and initiatives.
