Join us to apply for the Passenger Assistant role at Plymouth City Council. Opportunities have arisen in the Transport and Allowances Team to appoint 10 part‑time, term‑time only Passenger Assistants. You must live within the Plymouth boundary or be able to travel to the City of Plymouth Boundaries for pick‑up.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accompany children and young people (4–25 years of age) who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) on their journey to and from school, college, or other educational establishments.
  • Be responsible for the health, safety and well‑being of the children and young people between home and school.
  • Work independently, demonstrating initiative and a genuine interest in supporting children and young people with SEND.
  • Be available for 10 journeys a week – five mornings and five afternoons, Monday to Friday – aligned with school opening and closing times (approximately 7.00 am to 9.30 am and 2.30 pm to 5.15 pm).

Full training will be provided prior to commencing work and an enhanced DBS check will be undertaken for these posts.
