As a key member of our Natural Environment Service, you’ll lead a dedicated team responsible for managing and improving Plymouth’s green spaces, habitats, and natural assets. This is your chance to make a real impact on the city’s environment and the wellbeing of its residents.
What you’ll do
- Lead and inspire a team of operational staff and contractors to deliver high-quality environmental services.
- Plan and manage natural environment projects across the city, ensuring resources, equipment, and vehicles are ready for action.
- Champion safety and compliance, conducting risk assessments and promoting a positive health and safety culture.
- Engage with the community, handling customer queries and complaints with professionalism and care.
- Drive innovation, supporting service improvements and contributing to a resilient, happy team.
What we’re looking for
- Proven management experience in an operational setting.
- Knowledge of health & safety legislation, environmental practices, and relevant codes of practice.
- Strong planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills to work with staff, contractors, and the public.
- A full driving licence (including towing) and practical experience with environmental management tools and machinery.
Desirable extras
- LGV licence and CPC.
- IOSH qualification or working towards it.
- Experience in local authority operations and HR processes.
