Purpose of the Role: To deliver a high-quality waste collection and transportation service based at Chelson Meadow and Weston Mill Household Waste Recycling Centres, ensuring operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and effectively. The role contributes to maintaining a greener, cleaner city through reliable service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a range of vehicles, including skip vehicles, hook loaders, and articulated vehicles with trailers.
  • Ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient collection, transportation, and disposal of waste materials both on and off site to designated disposal points.
  • Maintain accurate records of loads moved, ensuring compliance with weights and measures requirements and Environment Agency regulations.
  • Maintain a valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and digital tachograph card at all times.
  • Adhere to Operator (O) Licence requirements, driving regulations, and Working Time Directive rules.
  • Ensure high standards of productivity, work quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional approach when interacting with the public and stakeholders.
  • Uphold the reputation of Plymouth City Council through the delivery of a critical frontline service.
