Overview: Please note, this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship and we can only consider applicants with existing right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming and assisting families, visitors, and funeral directors
  • Providing front‑of‑house support with professionalism and warmth
  • Assisting with funeral services, burials, and the scattering of cremated remains
  • Operating cremation equipment in line with legislation and the Cremation Code of Practice
  • Maintaining accurate records throughout the cremation process

The Crematorium Technician Training Scheme (CTTS) or Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC) is desirable. If you do not already hold this qualification, you will be required to complete it within 12 months. Full support will be provided. Once trained the individual will need to ensure all aspects of the Cremation Code of Practice and all other legislative requirements are followed. This includes maintaining records of the deceased throughout the cremation process and keeping accurate records of cremations and identification of cremated remains.

The role will be based at Plymouth City Council’s Crematorium, The Park, which is located at Merafield Road, Plymouth.
