I am a 36 year old man with learning differences, living independently in the Plymouth PL9 area. I am looking for a reliable and supportive Personal Assistant/Carer to help me maintain a safe, organised and fulfilling daily life. I manage most aspects of my personal care independently but benefit from practical support, structure, and encouragement with day to day tasks in my home. The right person will help me stay healthy, manage my home to a high standard, maintain positive relationships with my family and friends, and support me to live confidently in my community.
Main Duties
- Personal Care & Daily Living: Provide support with personal care routines (I am mostly independent). Assist with preparing healthy meals and maintaining a safe, hygienic kitchen environment. Keep my living space clean, organised, and well maintained—including regular checks of the fridge, cupboards and removal of out of date items.
- Home Organisation: Help me keep on top of routines, appointments and household tasks. Support me to maintain structure and independence throughout the day.
- Social & Community Support: Encourage and support positive social interaction with my family, friends, and wider community. Promote confidence and wellbeing when out and about locally.
- Teamwork & Communication: Work as part of a small team to provide consistent, person centred support. Use WhatsApp, photos and videos appropriately to support communication and updates. Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to obtain one). No smoking or vaping while with the client. A smartphone is required, plus ability to use WhatsApp, take photos, and record short videos. Basic IT skills (Word, email, internet, Google). Training can be provided. Access to your own laptop/computer is helpful. Must maintain confidentiality at all times. Patient, enthusiastic, trustworthy and willing to learn. Flexible and able to work in a person centred, responsive way. Open to developing skills and working collaboratively within a team. Able to adapt to an evolving care plan as my needs and family circumstances change.
Desired Experience
- Previous experience in care or support work is helpful but not essential. A positive attitude, common sense, and a willingness to learn are just as important. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred but not essential. First Aid knowledge or training is beneficial.
Work Schedule
- Flexible part time hours to provide cover when required. Some regular shifts available. The team provides support 7 days a week, between 8:30am and 10:30pm.
Pay Rate
- £14.00 per hour plus holiday pay to start. Potential increase to £14.50 per hour, subject to performance.
