Do you thrive in high-pressure situations? Want to play a key role in helping your community prepare for and respond to emergencies? Plymouth City Council is looking for a committed and capable Civil Protection Officer to join our professional and dynamic Civil Protection Service on a fulltime 2-year fixed term contract
What You\’ll Do
As a Civil Protection Officer, you will:
- Develop, test, and support the delivery of a cross-Council business continuity programme
- Work across partner agencies to coordinate responses to incidents
- Deliver training and advice to staff, elected members and voluntary groups
- If instructed, contribute to Local Resilience Forum meetings
- Provide public information and support during emergencies
You\’ll support tactical decision-making during emergencies and play a crucial role in safeguarding the city and its people.
What We\’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with:
- A diploma (or equivalent experience) in emergency management or a related field
- Proven experience in multi-agency planning and emergency response
- Strong understanding of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and relevant regulations
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills
- Confidence to make critical decisions under pressure
- A full UK Driving Licence
- The ability to undertake \’on-call\’ duties out of hours without restriction
- Membership in a relevant emergency planning organisation and experience with non-statutory plans and central government resilience frameworks
- An understanding of business continuity in a local authority environment
