I am a wheelchair user in my 50s and live with my cat. I require personal care using a hoist, assistance with transfers, and light housework. There are opportunities for Part Time, Bank, and Permanent positions.
Duties
You will support me with daily activities so that I can move safely around my home and access what I need. I will communicate clearly throughout each shift and guide you on what is required.
Below is an outline of the typical tasks for each shift type:
- Night Shift (Sleeping Night)
- Assistance getting ready for bed
- Personal care (hoist-assisted)
- Helping relieve leg cramps when they wake me
- Morning support to get up
- Afternoon Shift
- Hoist-assisted toileting
- Adjusting my seating position
- Light housework
- Support with preparing food
- Morning Shift
- Support with physiotherapy exercises
- Light housework
- Occasional food preparation
No experience is necessary. Full training is provided during paid working hours.
Hours and Pay
I am open to discussing adjustments to the times below if needed.
Night Shifts (Mon, Tue, Thu or Fri)
22:00 – 09:30/10:00
£180 per shift
Day Shifts (£12.21 per hour)
- Mon Afternoon: 14:00–18:00
- Tue Morning: 11:00–14:00
- Tue Afternoon: 16:00–18:00
- Wed Morning: 10:00–14:00
- Wed Afternoon: 18:00–20:00
- Fri Morning: 11:00–14:00
- Fri Afternoon: 16:00–18:00
- Sat Afternoon: 12:00–14:00
Additional or extended hours may be offered—for example, if I am unwell, have extra tasks, or need errands completed. Extra shifts may also be available for holiday or sickness cover.
Rate: £12.21–£30 per hour
Bank Holidays (including Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Year's Day): Time and a half (£25.42–£30)
Paid holiday is accrued. Statutory Sick Pay is available for absences of one week or more. There are opportunities for Full Time, Part Time, Bank, and Permanent roles.

This role is directly employed by me, supported by the Plymouth City Council Direct Payments Team. It is not a Plymouth City Council position. A right to work check will be completed before employment is confirmed. A DBS check may also be required.
