About the Role: Are you passionate about innovation, startups, and creating vibrant business communities? As Slough Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for running and maintaining the hub’s workshops, creating a safe and welcoming environment for members. This includes machine maintenance, supporting the Location Manager in generating sales revenue (members tours and inductions), workshop specific H&S and machine training. As Health & Safety (H&S) Manager, you will be responsible for creating a positive culture of H&S through engagement, action and feedback. Designing, developing and leading on plans and best practices, with Plus X team and members, you will ensure H&S compliance throughout our hubs. You will be the champion of the H&S and Facilities Management software system, ensuring the system is utilised to its full potential supporting teams in day to day running of the hubs. As part of the wider team, your role will include fostering a collaborative approach to work.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

- Advanced CAD, 3D Printing and prototyping machine knowledge and practical skills
- Familiar with a range of model making and prototyping techniques including CNC, laser cutting, Lathes, Milling, metal work, woodwork, Plastic wood, silicon casting, foam modelling, application of paints and finishes etc.
- Health and Safety practical skills or Diploma across machining workshops and office and building management.
- Strong team player who can collaborate effectively with different stakeholders/disciplines
- Strong relationship building, motivational and prioritisation skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail with management of compliance policies and processes
PERSONAL & TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a good role model for staff and trainees and project a positive image to internal and external contacts, customers and wider stakeholders

Key Result 1: Safe and effective Slough workshop operation contributing to the building P&L through driving member acquisition and retention. Accountable for the effective and safe running of the Slough workshop space and facilities. Responsible for implementing, maintaining and developing processes to manage the workshop and its facilities to a high standard. Working closely with the Location Manager driving the acquisition and retention of workshop users. Responsible for oversight and operations of the workshop including all machine maintenance. Manage workshop maintenance and equipment budgets. Accountable for ensuring that the equipment is kept in a safe and good working order. Responsible for delivery of safety inductions and machine training to members. Lead on the procurement of workshop facilities and associated builders work, as and when required. Maintain and build external relationships with partners and suppliers. Support the Location Team with workshop tours and maker centred events. Support the Programme team in scoping and facilitating specialist facilities activities.
Key Result 2: Healthy, safe and compliant work environment for all employees and members. Accountable for high levels of H&S across the business and the results of the H&S audits and the risk management of all activities. Accountable for implementing H&S practices across the business, all Plus X Innovation hubs as well as Plus X employees. Responsible for implementing, maintaining and developing processes to manage the H&S to a safety compliance in all hubs. This includes fire safety. Responsible for ensuring all Plus X Innovation employees complete relevant training and assessments. Manage all risk assessment processes and liaise with insurance lead to ensure compliance is achieved. Accountable for high levels of H&S across the business and the results of the H&S audits and the risk management of all activities. Working closely with Plus X Innovation Workshops and Location Managers across the locations to identify opportunities to improve the facilities, share knowledge, expertise and best practice. Work with the Location Managers on procurement of H&S suppliers. Manage H&S polices, documents and staff eLearning’s, distribution across teams on the H&S system. Create and review Risk assessments, COSHH assessment, Policies, process and Safe working procedures, for across Plus X Innovation. Manage Members Workshop health and safety and review Member made Risk assessment and safe working procedures for their own tasks or machinery.
