Purpose of the Role
We are looking for a motivated and reliable individual seeking a career change into construction project management. As a Trainee Project Manager, you will learn to coordinate and manage residential construction projects, working closely with clients, architects, surveyors, engineers, contractors and local authorities. This role will suit someone with a strong and stable work history, excellent people skills, and a genuine commitment to building a long-term career in the construction management field. Because we invest significant time in training, we are looking for someone who is dedicated, dependable, and eager to grow with us. Over a structured 12-month training programme, you will gain experience both in our NW6 office and on client sites across London.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Senior Project Managers in taking client builds from initiation through to sign-off
- Handle administrative tasks and act as a liaison between contractors and clients
- Manage updates to project schedules, documentation and pricing
- Attend project commencement meetings with the Project Manager, Client and Contractor
- Accompany Project Managers on regular site inspections throughout each build
- Support the coordination of trades and suppliers as required
- Manage selected communications between contractors, clients and third parties
- Attend project sign-off meetings and assist in closing out completed builds
Essential:
- A minimum of five years’ solid and stable work experience in any professional environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Clean driving license
- Ability to work under pressure and handle difficult situations
- Aptitude for learning technical information and problem solving
- Confident, professional client-facing ability
- Good computer skills and a strong grasp of technology
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, with GCSE Grade B/Level 6 or above in Maths and English
- Highly reliable, responsible, organised and punctual
- A genuine desire to build a long-term career in residential construction project management
- An early starter who is comfortable working across multiple locations, including client sites.
Preferred:
- Previous experience or exposure to the construction industry (in any capacity)
- Experience working with clients or managing external stakeholders
