Our client is a highly regarded automotive supplier based in Warwick, known for its workshop innovation and diagnostic excellence. As the business enters an exciting transformation phase, they are now looking for a Workshop Solutions Engineering Manager to lead the strategy and technical execution of their diagnostic solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who’s not just used diagnostic tools, but has gone deep into how they work, collaborated with tool and software providers, and used data to get to the root of vehicle faults. You’ll need to be curious, logical, and ready to challenge outdated methods to find smarter, scalable solutions.
You’ll also work closely with colleagues and suppliers across Europe, so good communication and a collaborative mindset are essential.
Key Responsibilities:- Take ownership of the technical delivery of plug-in diagnostic solutions, from data extraction tools to workshop integration and field support.
- Act as the technical lead across hardware and software platforms, understanding both sides of the system and how they interact.
- Investigate and resolve diagnostic issues using extracted vehicle data, applying logical, step-by-step problem solving.
- Work closely with global software and tooling suppliers to improve performance, usability, and long-term reliability.
- Provide input into product roadmaps, based on your understanding of both customer needs and engineering limitations.
- Collaborate weekly with European teams, providing updates, resolving escalations, and aligning on tool development and support strategy.
- Drive process improvements by questioning current diagnostic workflows and identifying smarter alternatives.
- Manage and mentor one Diagnostics Engineer, guiding their development and project outputs.
- Proven experience as a diagnostic engineer or technician, working directly with plug-in tools and extracting vehicle data to identify faults.
- Deep understanding of automotive diagnostic protocols such as J2534, UDS, DoIP, CAN, and LIN.
- Strong working knowledge of how diagnostic hardware and software interact, including back-end systems and programming logic.
- Experience working with or alongside tooling/software providers (OE or aftermarket).
- Logical thinker with a natural ability to troubleshoot and improve complex systems.
- Knowledge of software tools (e.g. C#, .NET, WPF/XAML, or Figma) is a bonus, but not essential.
- Strong communicator who can work cross-functionally and represent the business across European teams.
- Comfortable using tools like Jira, Git, and Confluence in a technical delivery environment.
- Proactive and inquisitive, not afraid to challenge legacy processes to find better solutions.
- Hybrid working: 3 days in office, 2 days remote.
