Are you an experienced HR Advisor with strong employee relations knowledge? Do you enjoy supporting and coaching managers to handle people matters confidently and compliantly? Our client is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable HR Advisor to join their People & Culture team, based in Bicester. Reporting to the People & Culture Business Partner, this is a key advisory role supporting managers across the business with employee relations, performance, and absence matters, while ensuring best practice and legal compliance. The ideal candidate will be confident managing ER cases independently, have a strong understanding of employment law, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where sound judgement and discretion are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the first point of contact for line managers seeking HR advice on employee relations, performance, and absence management.
  • Provide timely, consistent, and professional HR guidance to support compliant decision-making.
  • Coach and support managers to build confidence in handling people issues.
  • Independently manage a caseload of low to medium-risk ER cases from initial advice through to resolution.
  • Prepare and issue all relevant documentation, including investigation packs, letters, and outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records within PeopleHR.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk cases to the HR Business Partner as required.
  • Support effective sickness absence management, including advice on reasonable adjustments and phased returns.
  • Liaise with Occupational Health and other relevant services.
  • Maintain accurate HR records in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Track, analyse, and interpret HR data (e.g. absence, turnover, case volumes) to identify trends and inform improvements.
  • Support the review and update of HR policies and procedures in line with legislation and business needs.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience working in an HR or People & Culture Advisory role.
  • Gained a Level 5 CIPD qualification or currently working towards.
  • Demonstrable experience managing employee relations (ER) cases independently.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional, approachable, and discreet when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgement.
Additional Information
  • Full-time, Monday Friday, 8am-4pm/9am-5pm.
  • On-site working.
  • 25 days holiday, plus.
