Are you currently working within an accounts payable or finance administration role? Do you have strong attention to detail, with confidence using Xero and Excel? And are you looking for a part-time finance role that can work around school hours or other commitments? Our client is a well-established, growing business based in Banbury, and they are looking to recruit a Part-Time Assistant Accountant to support their day-to-day finance function. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on purchase ledger and reconciliations, with light credit control responsibilities where required.
The business can offer excellent flexibility around working hours and days, meaning this role could suit someone looking for two full days per week, four half days, or something in between. You will need to be a strong team player, comfortable working in a busy environment and supporting colleagues across the wider finance team when needed.
Key Responsibilities:- Accurately entering supplier invoices into Xero
- Supporting the accounts payable process from start to finish
- Preparing payment runs, producing remittances and managing supplier queries
- Managing a shared finance inbox and responding to internal and external queries
- Posting and reconciling bank transactions, including PayPal, Stripe and GoCardless
- Posting and reconciling intercompany transactions
- Supporting customer account maintenance and statements
- Assisting with light credit control where required
- Investigating and resolving invoice or payment discrepancies
- Filing, record maintenance and general finance administration
- Supporting the wider finance team with ad-hoc tasks as required
- Previous experience in a similar finance role (this is not an entry-level position)
- Confident using Xero within a purchase ledger / finance support role
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- A team player who enjoys supporting others and working collaboratively
- Organised, resilient and able to work to deadlines
- Able to work independently and use initiative
- Part-time role, 16 hours per week (flexible working pattern)
- Working days can be agreed, with flexibility across 2 full days, 4 half days, or a split pattern
- On-site role based in Banbury
- Office hours start from 7:30am, offering flexibility for earlier starts if preferred
- Statutory holiday allowance (pro-rata)
