About the Role: As a Service Charge Analyst, you’ll be responsible for managing the weekly and monthly income accounting process for service charges, supporting the budget setting process, and issuing service charge notices to customers. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Finance, Treasury, Procurement, Income, and Housing, as well as operational service contract managers, to ensure the effective management and maximisation of income for Plus Dane. You will also assist with preparing Statements of Account, contribute to analysing surpluses and deficits, and apply your understanding of the social housing sector to ensure transparency and compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and producing accurate service charge budgets with budget holders and contract managers.
- Ensuring service charge budgets feed into the organisation’s overall budget process and reviewing proposed budgets.
- Supporting the Financial Accounting Team with compiling and issuing annual service charge notices.
- Handling customer queries and preparing Statements of Account.
- Reviewing allocations of service charges, contributing to statutory account preparation for management companies.
- Assisting in assessing and reporting on surpluses and deficits to support financial transparency.
- Providing a customer‑focused service to internal and external stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring
Essential:
- Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including Mathematics and English.
- Good standard of numeracy, literacy, and accuracy.
- Basic IT skills, including Excel and Word.
- Experience of service charges.
- Knowledge of social housing finance.
- Ability to prepare and interpret Statements of Account and contribute to surplus/deficit reporting.
- A customer‑focused approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload to meet deadlines.
Desirable:
- AAT qualification or proven experience in a finance role.
- Familiarity with double‑entry bookkeeping.
- Experience working in an accounts environment with financial systems.
- Ability to support wider financial processes and continuous improvement activity.
What you’ll get in return: This is a permanent term role working 35 hours per week. Your main base will be in our Liverpool office with hybrid working. You’ll be generously rewarded with a competitive salary and a great benefits package, including 35 days’ annual leave (pro rata), plus bank holidays. You’ll also benefit from a company pension scheme where we contribute 10% (from April), and colleagues can contribute anything from 3% upwards.
