About the Role: As a Housing Caretaker, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering high‑quality estate management services, ensuring our communal areas are safe, compliant and welcoming for residents.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out regular communal inspections to ensure compliance with fire safety, health & safety and legal requirements
- Identifying hazards, obstructions and environmental issues, recording findings and arranging follow‑up actions
- Testing fire panel equipment and emergency lighting, and undertaking communal water flushing to reduce legionella risk
- Managing communal keys and fobs and supporting contractor access arrangements
- Working closely with Neighbourhood Housing Teams to support service plans, new build and reinvestment programmes
- Monitoring and reporting contractor performance on communal services
- Building positive relationships with residents, colleagues, contractors and external partners
What You’ll Bring:
- Proven experience of delivering excellent customer service
- A good understanding of health & safety requirements and compliance
- Experience of working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to remain professional, organised and confidential
- Competence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office
- Full driving licence, access to a car for business use, and willingness to drive as required for the role
- Experience of inspecting communal areas within a housing or customer‑facing environment is desirable
What you’ll get in return:
This is a part‑time, fixed‑term role (2 days per week for 12 months). Your main base will be Merseyside, though occasional cover in Cheshire may be required, so flexibility and a full UK driving licence is essential. You’ll be generously rewarded with a competitive salary and a great benefits package, including 35 days’ annual leave (pro rata), plus bank holidays. This includes a 3‑day Christmas closedown between Christmas and New Year and you have the option to buy up to 5 extra days annually. You’ll also benefit from a company pension scheme where we contribute 10%, and colleagues can contribute anything from 3% upwards.
