Plumstead Manor is a thriving and popular secondary school located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Ours is a vibrant, diverse and inclusive school with over 60 languages spoken across our community. The foundation of our vision and purpose is to offer excellence to all our young people, based on four clear values which underpin all our work - pride, ambition, respect and togetherness. Our recipe for success is based on high quality teaching and academic rigour, blended with the highest expectations, support and guidance. This creates the safe and happy environment which young people need to thrive and flourish.

As a Senior LSA in our SEND department, you will support the learning of individual students and small groups in class and oversee learning across specific activities under the guidance of a Teacher. You will also lead small group withdrawal interventions such as Catch-up literacy, Catch-up Numeracy, ELSA, Nurture or EBSA, developing schemes of learning and methods of assessment to demonstrate progress that meet the needs of students.

As a HLTA in our SEND department you will work directly with students who have specific learning needs and/or who have high levels of anxiety about school and lessons. You will be a key worker to specific students and will liaise directly with the SENCO, the school's mental health lead and other professionals, attending any relevant meetings. You will also assist teachers in the planning, delivery and evaluation of whole class/small group activities across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 as required.

As a LSA in our Learning Support Team you could be working in our SEND team supporting students in mainstream or you could be supporting students with a designated special need in 'The Bridge', our local authority resourced provision. You will be involved in a combination of in-class, one-to-one and small group support across a range of subject areas. Part of your role would be to assist students with eating, dressing and hygiene to ensure their wellbeing, safeguarding and health and safety, whilst encouraging independence.

It is essential that you have good literacy and numeracy skills (Maths and English qualification to Level 2). Experience of working with students with a variety of special educational needs and those with an EHCP is desirable. For the Senior roles you will need to have experience of working with SEND students and those with an EHCP and be aware of best practice in teaching less able learners and those with specific learning needs. For the Senior roles, experience or qualifications working in one or more of the following specialist areas: autism, dyslexia, EBSA, numeracy or literacy support programmes, is highly desirable.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment.
