This role focuses on:

  • Producing management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
  • Supporting funding, reporting, and financial control processes
  • Ensuring accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness
  • Working closely with Finance leadership and operational teams

It's a hands-on, analytical role with strong collaboration across departments, especially fundraising.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports
    • Analyse budget vs actuals and explain variances
    • Provide insightful financial commentary to leadership
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Develop and track budgets and forecasts
    • Support funding monitoring and financial planning
  • Funding & Revenue
    • Invoice funders according to grant agreements
    • Track funding changes and support implementation
    • Ensure Gift Aid and tax claims are accurate and timely
  • Financial Control & Compliance
    • Perform reconciliations (bank, VAT, payroll, suppliers)
    • Support audits and ISO compliance
    • Maintain financial policies and procedures
  • Operations & Process Improvement
    • Maintain asset register and monitor procurement
    • Oversee purchase/sales ledger and supplier reconciliations
    • Identify and implement process improvements

Skills & Experience Required

  • Essential:
    • Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
    • 2+ years post-qualified experience
    • Strong management accounts and budgeting experience
    • Good understanding of VAT
    • Advanced Excel / Microsoft Office skills
  • Desirable:
    • Experience with Xero
    • Charity sector experience
    • Payroll knowledge
