Plumpton College is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Lecturer in Equine to join our ambitious and supportive team. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
You will coordinate, lead and deliver a blend of theory and practical units, supporting students to maximise their potential and progress into further study or employment.
About the roleReporting to the Curriculum Manager, you will:
- Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching and assessment across a range of equine theory and practical units, including riding, coaching, business, yard management and behaviour.
- Inspire and motivate learners with differing abilities, ensuring a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Act as a personal tutor, providing guidance, monitoring progress and supporting students' personal, academic and employability development.
- Contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement activity and external awarding organisation processes.
- Work collaboratively within a high-performing team to continuously enhance the student experience.
You will be highly organised, student-focused and bring recent, relevant industry experience. You will ideally hold a degree or professional qualification, with a BHS Stage 3 or 4 Instructor qualification, and either hold or be willing to work towards a recognised teaching qualification. You will have:
- Strong experience in riding instruction and coaching across a wide range of abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a calm and supportive approach.
- A clear understanding of student welfare, safeguarding and high standards of health and safety when working with horses.
- Confidence in using digital tools, including Microsoft Teams, to enhance teaching and learning.
- A genuine commitment to equality, diversity and helping every student succeed.
