We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Mathematics with additional responsibility for KS4 Coordination on a full-time permanent contract basis with effect from September 2026. The post offers an excellent opportunity to work in a very strong Mathematics Faculty in our highly successful 11-19 academy. The emphasis will be on promoting effective teaching and learning, securing good or better outcomes, helping to lead, manage and develop a specific area of the curriculum and working to enhance the teaching practice of other teachers within the faculty.
The faculty is actively involved in working collaboratively with schools and organisations throughout Essex and is developing a maths mastery approach to learning. The faculty has a strong teamwork ethos, is very supportive, and has excellent schemes of work for all courses in place. There is also an excellent academy-wide support and development programme for all new staff.
Personal Qualities
- Good honours degree in mathematics or a related subject and a QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Proven successful experience of teaching across all key stage areas.
- Hardworking, enthusiastic, with a high level of commitment and ability to foster the teaching and learning and personal development of Year 7 to 13 year students.
- Interest in new teaching and learning developments and a high level of integrity.
- Evidence of excellent levels of value-added achievement and high retention levels.
- Demonstrated strong examination outcomes in Key Stage Four, including a highly successful track‑record of teaching the subject.
- ECT applicants welcomed, supported by a structured induction programme.
Responsibilities of the Post Holder
- Lead curriculum development to ensure the delivery of an ambitious, coherent curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
- Ensure that effective schemes of work are in place for each course at the respective key stage.
- Take full ownership for the management and upkeep of progress and attainment data across the key stage.
- Monitor the progress of students within their Key Stage, planning and implementing intervention as necessary to ensure students make at least good progress across KS4.
- Ensure that teachers know the prior learning and achievement of the students at the previous Key Stage, and use this to inform teaching.
- Ensure that teachers know the potential to achieve of the students based on prior achievement data.
- Ensure that school curriculum policies for assessment, setting, target setting, recording and reporting are enacted within their Key Stage, ensuring progression and continuity across Key Stages.
Remuneration
Annual salary for a qualified teacher will be in accordance with the Plume Academy Teacher Pay Scale. The salary ranges from Main to Upper pay scale, up to £51,047 at UPS3 plus a TLR2C £8,610 (2025/26 pay awards). Current salary of the applicant will be taken into consideration for the salary offered. Salaries are reviewed annually on 1 September. Progression through the Teachers Pay Scale depends on an acceptable annual performance development review.
