Plumbingforce are looking for an experienced self-employed Domestic Gas Engineer and Plumber to cover Stoke-On-Trent and surrounding postcodes. This is a self-employed, freelance engagement offering consistent, managed workflow with full back-office support. Engineers are expected to travel up to approximately 30 miles or one hour to a job, depending on whether the area is rural or urban.

We are a family-run, nationally established plumbing and heating firm, Gas Safe registered and Worcester Bosch Group Accredited Installers. We also hold approval with Baxi. Our office team manages all bookings, scheduling, and customer contact, allowing you to focus on the work.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Gas boiler breakdowns, fault finding, servicing, and general maintenance
  • Landlord gas safety checks (CP12)
  • Emergency response to water and gas leaks
  • General plumbing repairs across showers, WCs, bathrooms, and tanks
  • Customer-facing work with a focus on quality and satisfaction
  • All work carried out in compliance with manufacturer's instructions and current gas regulations, including correct handling of AR/ID unsafe situations

What You Can Earn

  • 47% commission on labour, plus margin on parts
  • Typical earnings from Β£40,000 per year
  • Top performers earning up to Β£100,000 per year

Working Pattern

  • Rotating schedule: 5-day week followed by a 6-day week
  • Hours: 8:00am – 5:30pm

Required Qualifications β€” Full ACS

All of the following must be held:

  • CCN1 β€” Core Gas Safety
  • CENWAT β€” Central Heating & Boilers
  • CKR1 β€” Cookers
  • MET1 β€” Gas Meters

The following are advantageous but not essential:

  • HTR1 β€” Gas Fires
  • G3 β€” Unvented Hot Water

Other Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in domestic boiler breakdowns and fault finding
  • Valid UK driving licence (required)
  • Own tools, including hand tools, drills, and a calibrated flue gas analyser
  • Own public liability insurance
  • Own mobile phone for work purposes
  • Strong understanding of unsafe situation procedures (AR/ID)
