We all know that irrespective of income, we can be bad at managing our money. More than 16m people in the UK have less than £100 in savings. 28% of UK adults have nothing at all in the bank. Yes, it's mind-boggling. But what makes money management hard? The answer is friction, temptation and mediocre existing solutions. We're building a better, effortless experience using world-class technology, data and behavioural science. We like to think of Plum as your money's best friend. It links to your bank, analyses your transactions on a daily basis and helps you manage your money across 3 key pillars: saving, return and awareness.
Our system, driven by artificial intelligence and data, identifies small amounts of money and automatically moves it into your Plum savings or invests it in a variety of funds and P2P loans. It also works tirelessly to make sure you're not overpaying on bills, fees and bad habits.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced engineer (3+ years in delivering production systems) to join our team. Technical knowledge is critical but we are a startup treading in uncharted territory so attitude is even more important. We're looking for people that like uncertainty and want to figure out how to do things that haven't been done before. You're a true team player and inherently positive. Where others see problems, you see solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Build and drive new product features, from end-to-end.
- Experiment, measure, repeat: ship things that move the growth needle.
- Work with the CTO to grow the team and shape the engineering culture.
Some things we're working on:
- Identifying patterns in transactional data: We need to be able to automatically identify recurrences and patterns in spending. Think clustering and periodicity.
- Core ledger: We are constantly evolving our internal systems for auditing and reconciling accounts. We move money around so we need to know where said money is at any point in time at scale.
- Investments: We're building a simple platform to enable everyone to become an investor in a variety of asset classes.
- Integrations with other financial products.
