The Role
You'll need to hit the ground running, delivering standout consumer press coverage and publicity for the company across social media during a very exciting period of high growth. Our brand is bold. So we need someone with the creativity and spark to bring our narrative to life, in a way that communicates our mission and engages our key audiences across both traditional and social media. You'll form a key part of our ambitious, high-performing and supportive communications and brand team.
What You Will Do
- Build strong and fruitful relationships with journalists across national and consumer press in the UK.
- Act as the first point-of-contact for media requests, speaking articulately on behalf of the company in line with the company's values.
- Create and deliver an organic social media plan that shares our news and brand messages with our growing audience.
- Create and deliver a pipeline of creative stories and pitches for traditional media.
- Work on digital PR campaigns to improve our search rankings and visibility on LLMs.
- Monitor and report on our press coverage and social media output.
- Get to know our customers and share our growing collection of case studies across traditional and social media.
- Write from concept to completion high-quality communications materials, including press releases and comments that journalists find genuinely interesting.
- Ensure that all materials present a clear, unified, and positive image for the organization and/or brand.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Who You Are
- You have 3+ years PR and social media experience in a high-growth environment, either in-agency with relevant clients, or in-house at a start-up/similar company.
- Alternatively you have 3+ years journalism experience in the personal finance sector.
- You're a storyteller who thinks of creative ways to promote the message.
- You have a clear interest in and knowledge of fintech/personal finance.
- You are passionate about the intersection of traditional media and social media, and how to make stories fly across both.
- You're proactive, self-motivated and well-organised.
- You have strong interpersonal skills, working effectively across teams.
- You're a strategic thinker who looks beyond the obvious and who can look at the bigger picture.
- You're an excellent communicator with a good eye for detail.
- You're a newshound who has a deep understanding of the press, and an ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with journalists.
- You possess a solid ‘black book' of relevant media in the UK.
