The Role
As a Staff Product Designer, you'll be shaping the future of the Plum product and the design organisation itself. This is a senior IC role where you'll own significant product areas, raise the craft bar across the team, and help define how design works at Plum, not just what it looks like.
What You Will Do
- Own complex, cross-pillar design problems end-to-end, from ambiguous briefs and strategic framing through to polished, shipped experiences.
- Set the design direction for your area, working independently and partnering with senior stakeholders across Product, Engineering, and the business.
- Synthesise qualitative and quantitative research, behavioural data, and market insight to drive cross-functional alignment and inform strategic direction.
- Define and evolve Plum's design standards, systems, and processes to raise quality and consistency across the whole product.
- Coach and mentor other designers through feedback, critique, and skill shares, actively contributing to the growth of the team.
- Collaborate with leadership to shape the product vision and roadmap, bringing a strong design POV to strategic decisions.
- Represent design credibly at all levels of the organisation, including to executives and external partners.
Who You Are
- A strategic product thinker who understands the business deeply and uses that understanding to prioritise and frame your design work.
- Someone who operates with little oversight, knows how to manage ambiguity, and can bring others along with you.
- An exceptional communicator whose presentations have a clear narrative, who leads meetings confidently, and who can influence without authority.
- A craft role model whose work is thorough, complete, and considered, and who holds others to the same standard.
- Fluent in designing for mobile, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong systems thinking alongside excellent interaction and visual design.
- Someone who knows when existing patterns should be pushed further, and when they shouldn't.
- Deeply familiar with how digital products get built, with experience shipping them at scale.
- Comfortable making decisions without everything being fully documented, and able to justify those decisions to stakeholders at any level.
Plum Perks
- We're all in this together! Own part of the company through stock options.
- Private health insurance.
- Annual training budget.
- Plum Premium for you and 2 friends or family.
- Referral scheme: earn competitive rewards.
- Flexible approach to remote working: we encourage at least 2 days a week in one of our beautiful offices in London, Athens or Cyprus.
- Team breakfasts and team lunches.
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays.
- 45 work-from-anywhere days: giving you the flexibility to work your way.
- 2 weeks sabbatical after 4 years to take the break you deserve.
