Aviation’s carbon footprint is growing, and "net-zero 2050" is too far away. At MAKO, we’re decarbonising the global fleet right now. By applying the biomimicry of shark skin to aircraft, our functional film is set to save billions in fuel and megatonnes of CO2 annually. We are looking for a Production Team Lead to coordinate our production and delivery of our film around the world for installation.
The Mission: What You’ll Do
- Strategic Team Growth: Lead and grow a world-class production team to deliver a product that will fly on thousands of aircraft and save megatonnes of CO2.
- Production Execution & Compliance: Execute production processes in order to meet forecasts and comply with quality requirements appropriate for aviation applications.
- Performance & Metrics Management: Drive project management of operational initiatives: track progress, measure impact through key production metrics, communicate feedback, and ensure deliveries are met in full and on time.
- Technical Mentorship & Lean Culture: Train and mentor team members in process execution, traceability documentation, non-conformity management, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement – empowering them to work more autonomously and efficiently.
Success Looks Like
- First Month: You will familiarise yourself with our progress to date, learn about our business-critical objectives and capability development goals over the short, medium, and long term. You will learn more about the MAKO team, our processes, and how we embody our values of lift over drag, active transparency and changing the boundary conditions.
- First Six Months: You will coordinate production runs for upcoming Flightfilm™ installations, ensure team members are trained, and appropriate traceability is maintained according to our quality management system, and develop a long-term growth plan for the production team.
- First Year: You will grow the team and ensure professional development plans address key capability needs, coordinate riblet film production runs using our scale processes, ensure QMS compliance with international standards, and continue to maintain and improve our ERP system.
About You
- Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline.
- Proven track record of leading, growing and mentoring teams in a highly regulated environment (e.g., aviation, automotive, medical), preferably with exposure to a start up or scale up organisation.
- Demonstrated success in creating and ensuring documentation meets quality management system requirements.
- 5+ years experience managing a production line and developing and reporting on key performance indicators.
- Experience using and improving Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems for production activities.
