We are currently seeking a full-time Platform Engineering Team Lead, to support the business with evolving our system infrastructure and empowering our engineering teams. Our ideal candidate would have expertise across modern cloud ecosystems, a strong focus on Developer Experience, and system reliability. This role requires a minimum of three days per week on-site at our Victoria, London office. The salary for this position is GBP 100,000 annually.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Lead and Empower: Guide and mentor a dedicated pod within our broader 10-person platform engineering team. You will drive technical initiatives and set the standard for engineering excellence while reporting directly to the Head of TechOps.
- Elevate Developer Experience (DevEx): Act as an advocate for our developers. You will remove friction and accelerate delivery by building self-service tools, streamlining local development, and championing GitOps deployment cycles.
- Automation: Lead building out and improving automation for platform-level tooling, operators, and automation.
- Scale GKE Platforms: Architect, manage, and scale our multi-regional GKE environments, spanning both standard and Autopilot clusters across our two primary platforms.
- Automate Security & Compliance: Collaborate with our security team to turn platform governance into an engineering challenge. You’ll integrate security directly into our pipelines and utilize compliance frameworks like Sprinto.
- High Reliability & Escalation: Drive infrastructure improvements focused on global load balancing, disaster recovery, cloud-native databases (Cloud SQL, Spanner), and robust telemetry pipelines. You will also participate in an on-call rotation, acting as a crucial escalation point for our SRE team during complex incidents.
Technical Expertise:
- Cloud Native Mastery: Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically designing and managing high-availability, multi-regional infrastructure.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Advanced experience writing modular, scalable IaC using a combination of Terraform and GCP Config Connector.
- Kubernetes Expertise: Proven track record of managing and scaling Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), with an understanding of both Standard and Autopilot modes.
- Zero Trust & Security: Strong understanding of modern security perimeters, implementing Zero Trust access (e.g., Twingate), and securing edge traffic using Cloud Armor and Global Load Balancers.
- Scripting & Automation: A strong foundation in Bash scripting, coupled with the desire and capability to introduce and drive the adoption of more structured languages like Go or Python for robust tooling.
