Deliver geospatial projects with accuracy, insight, and efficiency. At Plowman Craven, our Project Managers play a central role in delivering complex geospatial survey services across built assets and infrastructure projects. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest technical and quality standards.

This role suits experienced project professionals with a strong technical understanding of survey methodologies, commercial awareness, and the ability to lead teams and client relationships confidently.

The role

As Project Manager, you will oversee project delivery from planning to completion, working closely with clients, internal teams, and stakeholders. You will coordinate survey and digital teams, validate technical approaches, and maintain compliance with health, safety, and industry regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Coordination
    • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables with clients and teams.
    • Develop and maintain detailed project plans covering methodology, resources, programme, and risks.
    • Monitor and mitigate risks to protect timelines, budgets, and project quality.
  • Client Liaison & Communication
    • Act as the main client contact, providing clear updates on progress, risks, and changes.
    • Lead client meetings, technical discussions, and progress reviews to manage expectations.
  • Financial & Commercial Oversight
    • Track budgets, costs, and forecasts to ensure financial performance.
    • Support commercial teams with pricing, quotations, and scope clarifications.
    • Identify opportunities for efficiency and enhanced profitability.
  • Team Leadership & Resource Management
    • Lead kick-off meetings, communicate scope and safety requirements, and coordinate resources.
    • Guide and support project teams to maintain productivity, quality, and compliance.
  • Technical Expertise & Quality Assurance
    • Apply geospatial survey expertise to ensure technical feasibility and accuracy.
    • Review deliverables and provide guidance to resolve technical challenges.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of survey methodologies, including topographic surveys, laser scanning, mobile mapping, and monitoring systems.
  • Data Management & Compliance
    • Implement robust data processes aligned with company and industry standards (PAS 128, RICS guidance).
    • Ensure quality control, data accuracy, and secure storage for reporting and audits.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
    • Ensure all project activities comply with UK health and safety legislation, CDM regulations, and company policies.
    • Conduct or review RAMS for survey activities and promote a proactive safety culture.

What we’re looking for

  • Degree in engineering, geomatics, surveying, construction management, or related field.
  • Proven track record managing geospatial or digital construction projects across built assets and infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of survey technologies and methodologies.
  • Experience reviewing specifications and defining technical project requirements.
  • Familiarity with NEC3/NEC4 contracts and commercial processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly to clients and teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites.
