Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our Smart Monitoring division, driving market growth across monitoring, environmental, geotechnical, surveying, setting out and Io T services across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven and technically credible business development professional with experience in infrastructure, monitoring, surveying, geotechnical or related markets.
You will be responsible for identifying new markets, developing strategic client relationships and converting complex opportunities into sustainable, long term revenue.
You'll work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and technical and operational specialists, playing a key role in growing our monitoring offering and strengthening our position across major infrastructure and civil engineering programmes.
- What You'll Be Doing
- Develop and manage a qualified pipeline across monitoring, environmental, geotechnical, surveying and Io T services.
- Build senior client relationships with Tier 1 contractors, consultants, asset owners, utilities and public-sector organisations.
- Identify and develop new commercial opportunities around ground risk, structural movement, environmental monitoring and engineering survey.
- Lead high-value tenders, frameworks and commercial negotiations, working with technical teams to shape solutions and routes to market.
- Develop recurring and programme-led monitoring opportunities covering settlement, deformation, vibration and wider asset performance.
- Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities across surveying, setting out, monitoring and environmental services.
- Ensure opportunities are fully qualified, commercially viable, technically understood and operationally deliverable.
- Maintain accurate CRM, pipeline and forecasting information, while providing market and competitor insight.
What We're Looking For
- Significant business development or strategic account management experience within infrastructure, geotechnical, surveying, monitoring, subsurface engineering or a related market.
- A proven track record of winning new business, achieving revenue targets and converting complex technical opportunities into long-term revenue.
- Experience selling or a strong understanding of monitoring services, ideally including structural movement, settlement, deformation or environmental monitoring.
- Established relationships with Tier 1 contractors, consultants, asset owners, utilities or public-sector clients across infrastructure and civil engineering.
- Good understanding of surveying, ground investigation and monitoring data and how it supports infrastructure design, construction, assurance or asset management.
- Strong senior stakeholder and consultative selling skills, with the ability to translate technical challenges into commercial solutions.
- Technical credibility and the ability to work effectively with surveyors, engineers, monitoring specialists and operational delivery teams.
- Experience leading high value tenders, framework submissions or recurring/programme-led revenue would be advantageous.
