About the Role
As a Surveyor, you'll contribute to the delivery of specialist surveying projects across rail, highways and infrastructure environments. Working with experienced survey teams, you'll use modern equipment and established surveying techniques to capture, process and quality check accurate data for major infrastructure projects.
This role would suit a surveyor with around 3 - 5 years' experience, ideally in rail or infrastructure, who enjoys hands on fieldwork.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver surveying projects across rail, highways and wider infrastructure environments, working to agreed specifications, quality standards and project programmes.
- Use traditional surveying techniques and modern technologies, including GNSS, total stations, laser scanning, UAS (drones) and Amberg track trolleys, where trained and authorised.
- Work with Lead Surveyors and Project Managers to select appropriate equipment and survey methodologies.
- Take ownership of allocated project activities, including site logistics, data capture and accurate data management.
- Check survey data and deliverables against project specifications, resolving discrepancies before submitting work for review.
- Communicate progress, technical issues and resource requirements to project teams and coordinate effectively with clients and subcontractors.
- Support junior surveyors through mentoring, knowledge sharing and good site practices.
What We're Looking For
- Approximately three to five years of general surveying experience, ideally within a rail environment.
- A relevant qualification in surveying and/or civil engineering.
- Practical experience in control traverses, levelling and GNSS data collection.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and a proactive, collaborative approach.
- IT proficiency and experience with survey processing or CAD software; n4ce, Cyclone and AutoCAD are advantageous.
- A full UK manual driving licence. Access to a suitable vehicle is desirable, although company vehicles are available to support project deployment.
- A CSCS card is required. PTS and London Underground Worksite Safety Induction (LU-WSSI) are desirable, with company-supported training available.
- Flexibility to travel nationwide and work nights, weekends and away from home as projects require. Night work and working away are anticipated for approximately 50% of the working month.
