We are seeking a talented and motivated Utilities Surveyor to join our Digital Construction Division, supporting a wide range of nationwide projects from our Harpenden and London offices. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced utilities surveyor looking to further develop their technical expertise while working with cutting-edge surveying technology on high-profile infrastructure and construction projects.

You will be responsible for carrying out utility detection and topographical surveys, collecting and processing high-quality survey data, and delivering accurate outputs in line with company standards. Working closely with the Survey Lead, Client Delivery Manager and Project Delivery teams, you will play a key role in maintaining our reputation for technical excellence while continuing to develop your career within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Survey Lead and Project Delivery Team to determine the most appropriate surveying techniques and technologies to deliver projects effectively.
  • Carry out utilities and topographical surveys, including lifting covers, undertaking precision measurements, and accurately locating underground services.
  • Operate electromagnetic locating equipment, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and vehicle-towed GPR systems to identify and map underground utilities.
  • Process survey data using AutoCAD (2D/3D) and other specialist software, ensuring outputs meet company quality standards.
  • Take ownership of project data, following company protocols from collection through to final delivery.
  • Maintain the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and health and safety throughout all stages of project delivery.
  • Support the development of junior surveyors through knowledge sharing and on-site guidance.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and site teams to ensure project specifications and deliverables are fully understood and achieved.
  • Embrace new technologies and innovative surveying techniques to continually improve project delivery.
  • Work flexibly, including occasional night shifts, travel, and confined space working where required.

You will have

  • At least 3 years' utilities surveying experience.
  • Strong experience using electromagnetic locating equipment and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR).
  • Experience operating GPS/GNSS surveying equipment.
  • A good understanding of PAS128 utility surveying standards.
  • Relevant qualification in Surveying and/or Civil Engineering.
  • CSCS certification.
  • Willingness to undertake confined space work in sewers.
  • Strong technical understanding of utility surveying methods and instrumentation.
  • Excellent communication skills; proactive, clear, and professional in both written and spoken English.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, with experience processing utility survey data.
  • Strong IT literacy with an interest in developing skills in new technologies and workflows.
  • Full UK manual driving licence.
