This is a pivotal role combining hands‑on technical delivery, client advisory expertise, and service line development. You will take ownership of building survey projects from instruction to final reporting, while shaping the future direction of our consultancy capability.
You’ll act as a trusted adviser to clients, helping them make informed, commercially sound decisions across their property portfolios. At the same time, you’ll play a key role in developing proposals, identifying new opportunities, and building the foundations of an in‑house surveying team. This is an opportunity to shape a core service offering, not just deliver within one.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver building surveys across fabric, structure and building services.
- Advise clients on proportionate, risk-balanced survey scopes and methodologies.
- Manage projects end-to-end, ensuring quality, clarity and commercial alignment.
- Produce high-quality reports to support asset management strategies and technical due diligence.
- Coordinate and manage external survey suppliers to ensure consistency and value.
- Support business development activity through technical insight, proposal input and client conversations.
- Identify opportunities to extend survey scopes and add value.
- Contribute to the development of an in‑house building survey team as the service grows.
- Drive best practice and continuous improvement in survey delivery.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in building surveying.
- Strong technical knowledge across building fabric, structure and services.
- Confident managing projects and engaging directly with clients.
- Commercial awareness, comfortable contributing to fee scoping and opportunity identification.
- Proven experience producing clear, high-quality survey reports.
- Experience coordinating external consultants or suppliers.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Full UK driving licence.
