This position is fully remote/home based. Applications will be accepted from candidates based in the UK. The Email Marketing Manager is a strategic, creative, and highly organized individual who leads our email communications program as part of a multi‑channel strategy. This role is hands‑on and execution-focused, responsible for delivering high‑quality, audience‑centered campaigns that drive engagement, support organizational goals, and continually improve performance.
Responsibilities
- Own the end‑to‑end execution of email campaigns, including planning, audience segment preparation, dynamic content creation, setup, testing, deployment, and optimization.
- Develop and deliver engaging and on‑brand communications that apply best practices in email UX, accessibility, and deliverability.
- Ensure timely delivery of all campaigns in a fast‑paced, multi‑project environment.
- Lead systematic A/B testing across subject lines, creative, CTAs, timing, and content structure.
- Partner closely with the in‑house content teams and the external design teams to evolve the creative direction of email communications.
- Use channel insights to develop a deep understanding of audience needs, behaviors, and complex lifecycle stages.
- Build and refine segmentation strategies to support targeted, multi‑faced messaging.
- Identify and implement opportunities for enhanced personalization to increase relevance and engagement.
- Support the development of long‑term contact strategies that nurture, convert, and retain complex audiences.
- Monitor email channel performance and apply learnings to improve future campaigns.
- Partner with the Reporting, Insights & Analysis Manager to interpret results and translate insights into actionable improvements.
- Share campaign‑level channel insights with stakeholders, highlighting wins, opportunities, and trends.
Knowledge And Skills
- Experience working with enterprise‑level ESPs or marketing platforms such as HubSpot.
- Proven success delivering complex, segmented, and personalized email campaigns at scale.
- Demonstrated experience with audience segmentation, dynamic content, and lifecycle messaging.
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and deadline‑driven.
- Strong creative instincts paired with analytical thinking.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Curious, proactive, and continuously looking for ways to improve performance.
- Strong collaborator who thrives in cross‑functional environments.
- Familiarity with global email compliance standards (GDPR, CCPA, CAN‑SPAM, CASL).
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS for email editing and troubleshooting is preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or professional equivalent (CIM, IDM) in Marketing; or equivalent experience.
- HubSpot experience required.
Physical Requirements And Work Environment
- Prolonged periods stationary at a desk and working on a computer.
- Some national and international travel may be required occasionally.
- Some flexibility to work across time zones.
The base salary range we’ve established for these positions is £42,000 – £57,000. PLOS also offers a comprehensive benefits package summarized below.
