  • Hardware & HLA Diagnostics: Utilize appropriate tools and equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies) to perform root‑cause debug on Higher‑Level Assembly (HLA) and system‑level electro‑mechanical builds.
  • Customer Interface & Collaboration: Act as a daily technical point of contact for customer engineering teams, translating line performance data and test findings into actionable engineering improvements.
  • Documentation & Standards: Produce comprehensive project and quality documentation in accordance with Plexus change management procedures; establish technical best practices locally and collaborate with European sister sites.
  • Continuous Improvement & Mentorship: Drive test yield optimization and cycle‑time reduction, sharing knowledge across disciplines to build a resilient, cross‑trained manufacturing team.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or related technical discipline) with 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education (HNC/HND) and hands‑on manufacturing/test experience.
  • Demonstrated background in board‑level and system‑level HLA test debug.
  • Hands‑on experience with standard laboratory test and measurement equipment.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Analytical & Critical Thinking: Strong root‑cause analysis mindset and practical problem‑solving skills; Statistical Process Control (SPC) familiarity is a plus.

  • Software Tools (Advantageous): Exposure to or familiarity with automated test environments such as LabVIEW or TestStand (preferred, not essential).
  • Note: British nationality is not required; candidates must hold existing right to work in the UK.

Location & Lifestyle: Kelso, Scottish Borders

This position is based at our Kelso facility, offering an alternative to city congestion and high living costs:

  • Quality of Life: Located in the historic Scottish Borders, with world‑class outdoor recreation—hill walking, cycling, fishing, and golf—directly accessible.
  • Affordable Living: Highly accessible property market compared to major UK metro hubs, while maintaining straightforward transport links to Edinburgh and Newcastle.
  • Relocation Support: We regularly welcome professionals relocating to the Borders who are seeking broader technical ownership paired with a scenic, balanced lifestyle.
