Purpose Statement: The Costing Engineer I is responsible for providing accurate and timely manufacturing pricing information. Enables Plexus to provide industry competitive pricing quotations in support of current customers and new business development opportunities.
Key Job Accountabilities
- Analyze customer technical data in order to estimate and prepare detailed manufacturing cost information in support of quote activities.
- Meet with manufacturing sites to validate cost estimates with site management and engineering staff to gain site agreement on true manufacturing costs and ensure quote consistency.
- Determine optimum manufacturing cost solutions for new business opportunities. The best solution will target lowest total cost to Plexus and in turn, provide competitive pricing to our end customers.
- Ensure product costs are sensible from one manufacturing site to the next in order to represent a “One Plexus” solution to our customers and targets.
Education/Experience Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required for this position; a technical engineering degree or business degree is preferred.
- (1-3) years of related experience is required.
Other Qualifications
- Ability to understand technical drawings and documents
- Outstanding decision-making and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment, and have the ability to follow through on assignments with little to no supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact well in a cross-functional team and maintain the confidentiality of all customer and company information.
