The Epitaxy Module Manager will lead a semiconductor manufacturing module, driving operational excellence across safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role is responsible for achieving world‑class performance in yield, cycle time, and equipment efficiency while developing a high‑performing engineering team aligned to business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a semiconductor process module, driving world‑class performance in yield, cycle time, and equipment efficiency, while building a high‑performing engineering team aligned to business objectives.
  • Build and sustain a high-performing team by aligning individual and team goals with wider company strategy, fostering accountability, engagement, and a culture of excellence.
  • Build team capability by developing technical expertise and supporting individual career progression and develop and deliver a comprehensive technical training strategy for the team.
  • Provide hands‑on technical leadership within the wafer fab, supporting both day and shift engineering teams through escalation of tool and process issues.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement to enhance module performance and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations, effectively utilising team resources to maintain and improve cycle time performance.
  • Track and drive performance against industry‑standard KPIs, including tool uptime, yield, scrap, activity (turns), SPC/product qualification deviations, and human error reduction.
  • Enhance equipment capability to improve manufacturing performance, with a focus on process quality, cycle time, and throughput optimisation.
  • Ensure all tool owners and shift engineers are fully qualified to carry out tool qualifications and maintain operational excellence.
  • Maintain robust operational controls by ensuring OCAPs and RAPs are implemented and all tool documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Support the introduction of new tools, including selection, installation, and integration into manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure quality standards are upheld by supporting 8D processes and key systems such as IRAD, TFP, FMEA, DCN, and PCN.
  • Lead and contribute to key project initiatives, including CAPEX improvements, business‑critical taskforces, and capacity/constraint optimisation plans.
  • Champion and enforce Health & Safety standards across all module equipment and processes, ensuring full compliance at all times.
  • Collaborate across the Engineering function by supporting and deputising for fellow Module Managers as required, representing the module in business‑critical forums with clear and impactful communication, and providing occasional out‑of‑hours support to ensure operational continuity.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • 8+ years in semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Proven delivery of fab performance improvements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build trust, motivate teams, and drive engagement.
  • Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Strategic thinking with a focus on execution and results.
  • High level of ownership and accountability.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence without authority.
  • Experience with Epitaxy would be an advantage, other semiconductor manufacturing will also be considered.
