Plessey are seeking a skilled and dependable Electrician to join our Construction & Maintenance Team. This role will support ongoing refurbishment projects as well as day-to-day electrical maintenance across our facilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring all electrical systems are safe, compliant, and operating efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out electrical installation, maintenance, and repair works across refurbishment and construction projects.
- Support day-to-day electrical maintenance tasks across site.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults efficiently and safely.
- Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations and company standards.
- Assist with testing, inspection, and certification where required.
- Work collaboratively with other trades and members of the construction team.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
- Adhere to all health & safety procedures and site rules.
- Support shutdowns, commissioning, and project work.
- Recommend and implement improvements to electrical systems and energy efficiency.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and engineering partners.
- Work closely with production, engineering, and management.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, AM2, 18th Edition (BS 7671), and BS2391-52 Testing & Inspection.
- Proven experience in construction, refurbishment, factory, or maintenance environments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, testing & inspection, fault finding, and interpreting technical drawings.
- Experience with safe isolation, LOTO, and permit-to-work systems.
- Familiar with cleanroom protocols within semiconductor or high-tech environments would be a bonus.
- Able to carry out snagging and finishing works; competent with hand and power tools.
- Proactive in identifying faults, supporting root cause analysis, and recommending upgrades to reduce downtime and improve energy efficiency.
- Strong understanding of UK building regulations and health & safety requirements, including COSHH, PUWER, Manual Handling, and Working at Height.
- Capable of producing and supporting risk assessments and method statements; ensures correct PPE and permits are always in place.
- Effective communicator, able to coordinate work around production and support Facilities operations as required.
- Works well independently and within a team; methodical, detail-focused, calm under pressure, reliable, professional, and customer-focused.
