Messy spend management is tricky business. And tedious processes are a lose-lose situation for all involved, not just finance. At Pleo, we’re changing that. We build spend solutions that make managing money seamless, empowering, and surprisingly effective for finance teams and employees alike—with a vision to help all businesses 'go beyond'. The word 'Pleo' actually means 'more than you’d expect', and living by that mantra has been the secret to our success over the last 10 years. Now, we’re at a pivotal moment in our journey; every move we make has a direct impact on our 40,000+ customers, our business, and our collective success.

We need people who take pride in uncovering customer needs, who turn complex problems into simple solutions, challenge the way things are done (respectfully), and always aim high. With great ambitions driving us forward, we can’t say we’ve got this whole thing figured out. And frankly, that’s half the fun! What we can say is that we’re a driven, progressive, and, importantly, a kind bunch of 850+ people from over 100 nationalities, all committed to delivering the future of business spending, together.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our Internal Experience Platform (IX) and own the Backoffice Platform as a product. In this role, you’ll be responsible for defining the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the internal backoffice foundations that power permissions, workflows, auditability, and decision‑making across Pleo. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Risk, Support, and Compliance to ensure internal capabilities are safe by default, reusable across teams, and scalable as Pleo grows in volume and complexity. If you’re excited about owning a high‑leverage internal platform, enjoy solving ambiguous problems at the intersection of Product, Operations, and Risk, and care deeply about building foundations that others rely on - this role is for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own the product vision and strategy for the Backoffice Platform
  • Define and evolve shared internal capabilities such as:
    • Role‑based permissions and access control
    • Case workflows and decision logging
    • Audit trails and evidence generation
  • Prioritise platform work based on reuse, risk reduction, and operational impact
  • Partner closely with Engineering to design scalable, extensible solutions
  • Work with Risk, Support, and Compliance to ensure platform decisions meet regulatory and operational needs
  • Drive adoption of shared backoffice primitives across product teams
  • Balance platform standardisation with the needs of individual teams

Current and Upcoming Areas of Focus

  • Standardising permissions and access patterns across Backoffice
  • Establishing audit‑ready workflows and decision logging by default
  • Reducing bespoke internal tooling through shared platform primitives

What You Bring

  • Strong product management experience owning complex product surfaces
  • Experience working on platforms, internal tools, or infrastructure‑adjacent products
  • A track record of defining product strategy and translating it into outcomes
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, high‑dependency environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • The ability to make and defend trade‑offs across speed, safety, and scalability

Nice to Have

  • Experience in regulated or operationally complex domains
  • Exposure to permissions models, auditability, or workflow systems
  • Background in fintech, SaaS, or B2B product organisations

Why This Role is a Good Fit for You

  • You enjoy owning foundational products with company‑wide impact
  • You like solving systemic problems rather than shipping isolated features
  • You’re motivated by leverage, reuse, and long‑term scalability

This Role is Not a Good Fit for You

  • You prefer narrowly scoped, feature‑level product ownership
  • You’re looking primarily for delivery or execution‑focused roles
  • You’re uncomfortable influencing without direct authority

How You’ll Develop in This Role

  • Establish a clear product vision and roadmap for the Backoffice Platform
  • Deliver early wins that reduce operational friction or risk
  • Build strong partnerships with Engineering, Risk, and Support leaders
  • Grow your influence as the product owner for internal platform foundations

We’re committed to helping you develop your career — whether that means owning larger platform domains, deepening your expertise in internal systems, or progressing toward Group or Principal Product roles over time.

Who You’ll Be Working With and Reporting To

  • Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and Staff Engineers within IX
  • Program Manager (delivery & dependencies)
  • Product teams across Risk, Support, Fraud, KYB, and Core

Our team is highly collaborative and focused on building shared internal foundations. You’ll also partner with teams across the wider Product and Engineering organisation to ensure successful delivery and adoption.

The Interview Process

  • Intro Call (30 min) – Chat with a Talent Partner to discuss the role and your background
  • Hiring Manager Interview (60 min) – Meet your future manager and Product Lead to review your domain experience and skills
  • Take‑Home Case Study – Solve a fictional product challenge, then present your solution to a panel in a 1‑hour session. We’ll assess your problem‑solving, product thinking, and strategic reasoning
  • Executive Interview (30 min) – Conversation with our CPO about product strategy and vision, plus discussion of your leadership, stakeholder management, and execution experience

Benefits

  • Your own Pleo card (no more out‑of‑pocket spending!)
  • Lunch is on us for your work days — enjoy catered meals or receive a lunch allowance based on your local office
  • Comprehensive private healthcare — depending on your location, coverage options include Vitality, Alan or Médis
  • We offer 25 days of holiday + your public holidays
  • For our Team, we offer both hybrid and fully remote working options
  • Option to purchase 5 additional days of holiday through a salary sacrifice
  • Paid parental leave — we want to make sure that we’re supportive of families and help you feel that you don’t have to compromise your family due to work
