About the Role
We’re looking for a Full Stack Data Analyst to join our Critical Data Products (CDP) team at Pleo. In this role, you'll be a key player in turning payment data into actionable insights that drive decisions across the company. You'll work end-to-end — from building data models to creating dashboards and presenting recommendations to stakeholders. You’ll partner closely with Product and Engineering teams in the Payments area to help improve payment performance, reduce failures, and strengthen decision-making through high-quality metrics and insight tooling.
You’ll also be part of the broader Product Hub, focused on enabling our full company to be data-driven, using analytics and AI to speed up.
Who you’ll be working with
You’ll be reporting to the Manager of the CDP team which sits within the Product Hub in the Data department. The CDP team includes members from Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Science and Analytics Engineering all working together to support a wide scope across KYC/Compliance, FinCrime, Credit, Card/Banking Infrastructure, Regulatory Reporting and product teams across Pleo, delivering critical data pipelines, dashboards, reporting, strategic insights and data enablement guidance. Our team values trust, reliability, business understanding, alignment, and proactivity.
What you’ll be doing
- Conduct analysis on transactional data, present insights, and share your recommendations with stakeholders.
- Support with payment migrations, incident follow-ups, and strategic work with clear, data-backed narratives, and work with engineers to ensure that the metadata passed is useful for downstream reporting.
- Empower internal teams with high-quality, self-serve reporting through dashboards and reports in Looker.
- Define and operationalise core payments metrics (for example success rate, approval/decline rates, processing costs, volume, and operational impact) by setting up robust analytics foundations in dbt.
- Support in automation of regulatory and compliance reports.
What you bring
- Advanced SQL skills and solid experience with data modeling in dbt.
- Solid experience with data visualisation tools, specifically Looker and LookML.
- Hands-on experience in payments analytics and a solid grasp of core payment concepts (e.g., authorization/clearing/settlement, payment methods, decline reasons, chargebacks, fraud signals, risk).
- A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for your work, pragmatic problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
Why is this role a good fit for you
- You are comfortable working following high engineering and data platform standards (e.g. CI/CD, code reviews, PRs, established data governance…)
- You are excited to partner closely with non-technical business domain experts and to learn from senior colleagues from many data disciplines.
- You want to deepen your knowledge and expertise of the payments and finance domains.
This role may not be for you
- You haven’t previously worked with payments infrastructure: this is a non-negotiable for us.
- You find it difficult to proactively engage with colleagues outside of the Data world.
- You have never worked on a codebase that is largely shared between many people.
How you’ll develop in this role
- Dive into the payments infrastructure that is the backbone of everything that we do at Pleo.
- Grow your career in a supportive culture where you'll gain cross-functional insights from our team including Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Analytics Engineers, as well as from payment experts.
- Gain hands-on experience on transforming raw data into insights that drive business value.
We’re committed to helping you develop your career, whether that means taking on bigger projects, stepping into leadership, or acquiring new skills in data and analytics.
The location
The role can be based in Denmark, Portugal, Spain or the UK. We can hire either remotely, hybrid or in office but you need to be physically based in any of those countries. Please note we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role in any of the listed locations.
