Pleckgate High School seeks to appoint a part‑time Religious Education Teacher (0.4 FTE) to join the school from 1 January 2027 (or from 1 September 2026 if possible).
Responsibilities
- Plan and teach a well‑structured RE and PSHE curriculum for pupils at KS3 and KS4.
- Demonstrate secure subject knowledge and a clear understanding of current developments in the teaching of RE.
- Monitor and support the overall progress and development of pupils, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
- Assess pupils through excellent formative and summative techniques so that all pupils acquire and retain the most important knowledge and skills.
- Facilitate and encourage engaging learning experiences that enable pupils to achieve their individual potential in RE.
- Contribute to raising standards of pupil attainment in RE and PSHE.
- Make a positive contribution to the success of the department and ensure the RE/PSHE department is a high‑profile department in school.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Qualified to at least degree level in an RE‑based subject or an adequate post‑degree conversion course.
- Experience of teaching Religious Education throughout the Key Stages and securing good outcomes.
- Knowledge of the requirements of the RE Curriculum.
- Knowledge of current educational developments and initiatives relating to the subject and their implications.
- Well‑developed planning and organisational skills, including time management and the ability to prioritise effectively.
- A relentless approach to securing the improvement of teaching and learning.
- Ability to deliver consistently high‑quality lessons in Religious Education to pupils of all ages and abilities.
