As part of our specialised team, the ABA Tutor/Technician will play a key role in supporting children and young people with autism and other developmental needs through Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)-based interventions, promoting independence, skill-building, and positive behavioural change.
Key Responsibilities
As an ABA Tutor/Technician, you will provide one-on-one support to children and young people, implementing tailored ABA strategies and contributing to their growth and development. Your responsibilities will include:
- ABA Intervention Delivery
- Implement ABA-based programs as designed by the Behaviour Analyst or Clinical Supervisor.
- Use evidence-based strategies to teach communication, social, academic, and daily living skills.
- Manage and reduce challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement and other behavioural techniques.
- Data Collection & Reporting
- Record and maintain accurate, detailed data on client progress during each session.
- Monitor and report behavioural patterns, milestones, and challenges to the supervising team.
- Contribute to progress reviews by providing clear, concise observations and feedback.
- Engaging with Learners
- Build strong, positive relationships with learners to create a safe and supportive environment.
- Adapt teaching methods to each child’s unique needs, abilities, and learning style.
- Encourage engagement, independence, and self-confidence in daily activities.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with families, carers, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure consistency in strategies across all environments.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision.
- Provide parents with guidance and support on strategies to reinforce skills at home.
- Professional Development
- Stay informed about ABA principles, techniques, and best practices.
- Participate in ongoing training and obtain relevant certifications qualification, if not already held.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
- Experience working with children or young people with autism or other developmental challenges.
- Familiarity with ABA principles and techniques, or willingness to complete relevant training.
- Strong observational and data collection skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to working with learners with SEN.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with children, families, and professionals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Working towards or have a qualification qualification in ABA
- Experience implementing behaviour management strategies and techniques.
- Knowledge of SEN systems, including EHCPs and other support frameworks.
- First Aid and safeguarding training.
