Domestic & General is seeking a Technology Asset & Service Governance Specialist to safeguard vendor agreements and optimise software license costs. The role involves managing the end‑to‑end lifecycle of software assets, ensuring compliance with licence terms, and collaborating with stakeholders to support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure end‑to‑end lifecycle of software assets to meet compliance, KPIs and SLAs.
  • Create monthly ELP/reconciliation positions for every product across Desktop, Server, and Data Centre using SAM tools and manual data interpretation.
  • Apply expert licensing knowledge to vendor contracts, EULAs and product usage rights.
  • Plan, design, define and manage software licensing policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits of IT assets to validate inventory accuracy and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Manage software licences, ensuring full compliance and accurate recording/reporting of all IT assets.
  • Lead SAM process auditability and accountability, establishing roles, policies and tools for a verifiable record of all software assets and usage.
  • Oversee configuration management and CMDB evolution, providing guidance and a single point of truth.
  • Produce bi‑annual Effective Licensing Position (ELP) with strategic view of Microsoft product usage.
  • Analyse risk and savings opportunities, perform contract optimisation and produce a SAM maturity assessment.
  • Examine problem‑management processes, identify and support service‑improvement initiatives (people, process, communication, retrospectives).
  • Develop a roadmap to advance SAM maturity and generate tangible business value.
  • Track and oversee licence requests, renewals, cost optimisation and compliance with vendor terms.
  • Collaborate with procurement, IT, finance and vendors to negotiate contracts and manage relationships.
  • Respond to issues and incidents related to IT assets, coordinating vendor resolutions when necessary.
  • Monitor and manage the software asset risk register to drive value for money (VFM).
  • Maintain a centralized repository of software assets, licence keys, media and documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve licence disputes, negotiate agreements and ensure compliance with vendor requirements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technologies related to IT asset management.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong understanding of Tier1 vendors (IBM, Microsoft) and their licensing terms.
  • Experience across all aspects of the ITAM lifecycle and proven track record of managing software assets.
  • In‑depth knowledge of software libraries and CMDB principles.
  • Ability to interpret data from multiple sources and consolidate into cohesive licence reconciliation positions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of translating complex licensing matters into clear explanations.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to delivering high‑quality work.
  • Team‑playing mindset with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
