We have an exciting opportunity for Senior Data Protection Manager to join our Risk & Compliance team here at Domestic & General.

The role plays a pivotal role in overseeing the organisation’s data protection and privacy programme.

It will also ensure compliance with relevant applicable data privacy laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation and other data privacy regimes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day delivery of assigned privacy operations, ensuring core records, DPIAs, LIAs, DSRs, incidents and compliance monitoring activity are progressed to agreed standards and escalated where required.
  • Own the quality and consistency of assigned privacy processes, templates, records, reporting inputs and operational controls.
  • Provide senior risk-based advice to business teams on projects, suppliers, contracts, international transfers and privacy-by-design requirements.
  • Lead operational privacy risk assessment activity, agreeing actions within delegated authority and escalating material risks or decision points to the GDPO.
  • Prepare and present management information, KRIs and compliance insights to support senior stakeholder and GDPO oversight.
  • Support the GDPO in regulatory enquiries and external engagements by coordinating inputs, preparing draft responses and managing follow-up actions.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching and quality assurance to Analysts and other colleagues supporting privacy activity.

Skills and experience required

  • Strong knowledge of global applicable data privacy laws, including UK GDPR, EU GDPR, DPA 2018, PECR/e-Privacy and relevant regulatory guidance.
  • Proven experience managing day-to-day privacy operations, DPIAs, incidents, DSRs, compliance monitoring and regulatory interactions.
  • Ability to interpret complex requirements and translate them into practical, risk-based business advice and operational controls.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, stakeholder management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Recognised data privacy qualification preferred, such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, BCS Data Protection or equivalent.
