We’re looking for an exceptional Commercial Director to join our UK Market team at Domestic & General. This is a newly created, high‑impact role reporting directly to the President of UK Market, where you will lead the commercial agenda—shaping and delivering strategy across growth, pricing, market focus, and customer approach to drive sustainable revenue and margin performance. The role translates business strategy into clear, actionable commercial priorities, aligning teams, investment, and decision‑making behind initiatives that unlock profitable growth while strengthening commercial discipline across the organisation. You will bring strategic insight and operational rigour to enable high‑quality decision‑making across growth, pricing, proposition development, and performance management, ensuring long‑term value in a competitive market.

What you’ll be doing

  • Owning and shaping the commercial agenda for the UK market, ensuring growth priorities are aligned to strategy and market opportunity.
  • Setting direction across pricing, proposition, and go‑to‑market activity to deliver sustainable revenue and margin growth.
  • Identifying and unlocking growth opportunities across segments, propositions, and commercial levers to strengthen competitive performance.
  • Translating strategy into clear commercial priorities, plans, and performance expectations across the market.
  • Balancing growth ambition with commercial discipline, making informed trade‑offs across revenue, margin, and customer outcomes.
  • Aligning teams around shared commercial objectives, ensuring clarity, focus, and accountability across functions.
  • Monitoring performance and using insight, data, and market trends to continuously refine priorities and approach.
  • Sponsoring key commercial initiatives and investments, ensuring focus on the highest‑impact opportunities.
  • Leading in‑period trading activity, translating strategy into decisive actions and market responses across channels.
  • Partnering closely with Commercial Finance to ensure robust, insight‑led decision‑making across pricing, propositions, and investment.
  • Building strong, effective relationships across the business to drive alignment and execution of commercial priorities.
  • Representing the commercial agenda in senior forums, providing clear recommendations and performance insight.
  • Driving consistency in how commercial priorities are communicated, delivered, and tracked across the market.

What you’ll bring

  • Significant experience in commercial leadership, with deep expertise across growth strategy, pricing, proposition development, go‑to‑market, and performance management.
  • A strong understanding of how commercial decisions translate into revenue, margin, and customer outcomes.
  • Proven experience operating across multiple functions, with the ability to influence and align senior stakeholders in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Sound commercial, operational, and customer judgement, with the ability to balance growth ambition, market opportunity, and financial discipline.
  • Strong analytics capability, able to use data, insight, and market trends to shape decisions and drive performance.
  • The ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments, bringing clarity, focus, and direction.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and annual discretionary bonus
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank/public holidays, with an annual option to buy up to 5 additional days
  • Training opportunities and clearly defined career progression
