Role Overview: Playing a significant role in Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Global Marketing Department, you will partner with the PlayStation Store & Services Growth Marketing team and lead development of global Media Strategies to support our flagship PlayStation Plus subscription service, and PlayStation’s multi-billion-dollar D2C businesses (PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct). Media strategies should maximise ecommerce revenues & service subscriptions by creating the optimal conditions for highly effective, ROI-driven, direct response campaigns.
In this role, you’ll dovetail with PlayStation’s internal Media planning and external media agency to ensure strategies are translated into actionable plans of activation and will be expected to work with cross functional marketing teams (e.g. CRM, Owned, Partnerships, Influencers) to understand how media is performing, and then update, iterate & modify strategies to ensure business goals are met. You’ll be expected to demonstrate a keen understanding of evolving consumer behaviours, digital, eComm & subscription landscapes, and a range of audience and measurement techniques.
What you’ll be doing:
- Responsible for developing annual global media strategies for PlayStation Store, Plus & Direct, that achieve business objectives through innovative, insight-led, actionable media campaigns.
- Be the central point of contact for media strategy with the Store & Services Growth Marketing team.
- Partner with Store & Services Growth Marketing leaders and key Marketing functions to develop robust Global Media briefs with internal and external partners on an annual & quarterly basis.
- Work closely with the in-house PlayStation Media Planning team to ensure that media plans fully embody the media strategy and, across paid & owned media channels, that audiences and objectives are planned holistically.
- Understand how changing business and category factors may impact the strategy and provide recommendations/scenario planning to adjust accordingly.
- Be the Media Strategy lead in weekly S&S performance optimisation forums, helping to drive improvements in performance & developing investment business cases.
- Be a visible leader for performance-based marketing, helping to support the team’s evolution to become more performance focused.
- Develop positive relationships with senior media & marketing partners to lead DTC media narrative, increase X-portfolio orchestration, and maximise the impact of the media strategies.
- Support Global Store & Services Growth Marketing team to drive media & creative integration and inform development of optimal messaging/content/creative by audience and platform.
Performance Indicators:
- Directly deliver incremental revenue to SIE through analysis, optimisation, and iteration of media strategy.
- Successfully grow the global Media team’s impact on PlayStation’s global business, as measured by a blend of return on investment (ROI)/ROAS & Performance critical metrics, business goals, and positive performance feedback from marketing and commercial internal and external team members.
- Ability to keep a broad base of stakeholders and partners aligned to the approved media strategies during campaign planning and execution.
- Ability to appraise success of the media strategies developed, through continued analysis of performance data and pro-actively suggest optimisations.
What we’re looking for:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or Economics preferred.
- Experience: Demonstrated ability (circa 10 years) in media planning and strategy, with proven experience developing successful global growth/performance marketing, DTC media campaign strategies required.
- Proven experience in driving e-commerce media strategy through the consumer lifecycle that delivered growth & revenue.
- A performance focused, strategic thinking marketer who can articulate & implement media strategies/plans.
- Solid understanding of digital platform/ecosystems and measurement techniques (MMM & MTA) required.
- Comfortable operating in matrix operating models, adaptable and collaborative with both internal & external teams.
- Experience in working in global / regional roles preferred.
- AI literate, with experience being able to speak to possible applications of emerging tools in media environments for strategy & decisioning.
- Experience with handling large agency relationships preferred.
