Sony Interactive Entertainment isn’t just the Best Place to Play — it’s also the Best Place to Work. Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is the company behind the PlayStation brand. As a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation, we’re part of a proud legacy of innovation and excellence. SIE is a dynamic technology company, delivering cutting-edge hardware and network services to more than 100 million people and an entertainment leader, home to some of the most beloved and recognizable intellectual properties (IP) in the world. Our role at SIE is to create and nurture the experiences under the PlayStation brand, a name synonymous with entertainment excellence and creativity.
Our team operates within the ‘Services Commercial’ group who are dedicated to driving growth and engagement of PlayStation’s subscription services. This wider group strives to maximise new subscriber acquisition, improve subscriber retention, and provide a compelling reason for people to return to the service year after year. Our core product, PlayStation Plus, is critically important to PlayStation’s vision and strategy.
This role sits within the Subscription Optimisation team and is responsible for shaping how PlayStation Plus operates across a complex and evolving global regulatory landscape. PlayStation Plus is one of the largest subscription services in the world, serving tens of millions of subscribers. We operate in >70 markets, each with specific regulatory requirements we must meet to offer our subscription.
Operating at a systems level, the role will lead how we respond to regulatory change and legal activity, going beyond interpretation to deliver well-balanced solutions that consider compliance, customer experience, and commercial impact. It brings together teams across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and Legal to deliver solutions end-to-end, often building from scratch or adapting quickly to meet evolving needs.
The role also focuses on improving how our systems are used in practice—identifying gaps, exploring new ways to use existing functionality, and shaping what needs to be unlocked next across targeting, experimentation, and operational capabilities. It plays a direct role in influencing the roadmap and evolving these systems to better support both business goals and customer needs.
The right person for this role won’t settle for the first answer or the surface-level ask. They’ll want to understand how things actually work, where the business constraints are, what the customer impact is, and what trade-offs need to be made before deciding on the best solution. They’ll combine strong business judgment with comfort navigating legal, technical, operational, and customer considerations at the same time. Success in the role comes from taking complex, ambiguous situations and turning them into practical, scalable solutions that teams can deliver.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead how we respond to regulatory change and legal requirements across the subscription business:
- Work closely with Legal and Business Affairs to interpret new and changing regulations across global markets
- Proactively translate regulatory requirements into practical solutions, shaping system changes where needed, with a clear view of both compliance and business impact
- Coordinate across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Commercial, and Operations to deliver changes that are both compliant, sustainable and commercially viable
- Act as the central point for litigation and request-for-information activity, ensuring responses are accurate, consistent, and delivered on time
- Support impact sizing and help assess risk across customer and business outcomes
- Improve how our subscription systems work in practice:
- Maintain a roadmap for how targeting, experimentation, core tooling and capabilities evolve over time
- Explore new & creative ways to use existing functionality to support business goals more effectively
- Test and validate new features and changes to ensure they work in real scenarios before rollout
- Identify gaps between how something is designed and how it works day-to-day, and resolve them with Product teams
- Define clear best practices so tools are used consistently across teams
- Support risk response, governance, and complex problem solving:
- Lead response to significant customer issues and escalations (e.g. engineering incidents, legal concerns), ensuring clear, coordinated action across teams
- Take on complex or non-standard problems, defining practical paths forward where requirements are unclear or evolving
- Ensure approaches to personalisation and targeting are compliant, consistent, and scalable across markets
What we are looking for:
- 5+ years’ experience (or equivalent) in operations, product, regulatory, or similar roles in a digital or technology-led environment
- A tenacity to learn ‘how’ the technology and teams behind our product work – as this will allow you to make the best recommendations in how to solve regulatory or delivery challenges
- Strong organisational and project management skills, structured thinker with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple requests at the same time
- Strong communicator and collaborator to rally teams together behind initiatives – strong documentation skills and organisational skills
- Comfort in negotiating with stakeholders, understanding their needs, and interpreting that into actionable delivery
- An understanding of Gaming and Subscriptions customers and their needs
- Understanding of Subscription model businesses
