Apprentice

This is a fantastic opportunity for 3 apprentices to gain an Early Years Educator Level 3 qualification. The apprentices will be working in a childcare setting with children ranging from ages 0-5, and will be working towards an Advanced Diploma Early Years. The apprenticeship will last for 13 months and requires dedication, commitment, and punctuality.

Responsibilities will include:

• Recognising when a child or colleague is in danger or at risk of abuse and acting to protect them in line with safeguarding policy and procedure
• Applying legislation, policy, and procedure to protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of children in the setting
• Applying the principles of risk assessment and risk management within documentation and practice
• Teaching children to develop skills to manage risk and maintain their own and others\’ safety
• Using a range of communication methods, including technology, with other professionals to meet the individual needs of the child
• Developing and maintaining effective professional, collaborative relationships with others involved in the education and care of the child
• Undertaking the role and responsibilities of key person
• Recognising and applying theories of attachment to develop effective relationships with children
• Providing sensitive and respectful personal care for children from birth to 5 years
• Advocating for all children\’s needs, including children who require SEND or EAL support
• Promoting and facilitating children\’s interpersonal communication to develop their social interactions and relationships
• Supporting children to develop a positive sense of their own identity and culture
• Supporting children to understand and respond to their emotions and make considered choices about their behaviours
• Assessing the responsiveness of the environment for effective child-centred experiences in line with curriculum requirements
• Creating inclusive, child-centred, dynamic, innovative, and evolving physical environments both indoors and outdoors
• Creating an inclusive and supportive emotional environment that enables the child to feel safe, secure, respected, and experience a sense of wellbeing

The salary for this role is £11,778 for the first year, with the possibility of an increase depending on age. The apprenticeship will be based at one of Playdays Nursery\’s sites in London (W14, W4, or SW19), and will involve working 30 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with shifts to be confirmed.

Playdays Nursery aims to help each child reach the highest degree of independence and confidence through traditional teaching methods. The nurseries are open 51 weeks a year, from 8am to 6pm.
